Christopher Shields is Distinguished Professor at the Department of Philosophy of University of California San Diego.
He is considered one of the world's leading experts on Aristotle's philosophy and the Aristotelian tradition. He also uses Aristotelian metaphysics in current debates and has developed a special approach to the contemporary interpretation of the Aristotelian work.
He has published several books on topics in Ancient Philosophy, including a translation and commentary on Aristotle's De Anima (Oxford University Press).
Christopher Shields is a Visting Fellow at CAS in April and May 2025. In Munich, he works together with Christof Rapp (LMU).
